Franklin James Reid, Jr., 74, of 6 East Ave, passed away, Saturday, August 13, 2016.
Born January 14, 1942, in Kane, he was a son of the late Gertrude E. Simons Reid and Franklin Reid, Sr.
On May 26, 1963 he married Barbara A (Kucenski) Reid who survives.
Mr. Reid enlisted in the United States Navy on January 18, 1962 and was honorably discharged on May 7, 1963. He served in the Navy Reserves until October 3, 1968.
After returning from the service he worked at Taylor Roofing Company, Reichenbach and Son Salvage, Reid Salvage, and prior to his retirement worked at the American Legion Post #108.
Jim was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #108 where he served as Post Commander for 14 years. In 1995 he was awarded the Post Commander of the Year Award for the local District.
After he retired he enjoyed going to flea markets. He was an avid Yankees and Steeler's Fan. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, where he was affectionately known as "Papa".
In addition to his wife Barb of 53 years, he is survived by three daughters, Donna (Scott Wilber) Miller, Vicky Reid, and Jamie (Brenton) Irons, two sons, Jim (Dawn) Reid and Dave (Kathy) Reid , several grandchildren, great grandchildren, four brothers, Wayne Reid, William Reid, Thomas (Gail) Reid, and Michael Reid all of Bradford and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a niece.
There will be no public services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.
