Evelyn B. Thompson

Evelyn B. Thompson, 90, of 88 Crookerhouse Lane, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017, at The Bradford Ecumenical Home.

Born January 20, 1927 in New Kensington, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mabel (Irwin)  Magill.

On January 23,1947 in Dubois, she married James G. Thompson, who passed away September 27, 1989. 

She was a 1945 graduate of Dubois High School. 

She began raising her family in Dubois and moved to Bradford in 1958.  After she raised her family, she began working at Northwest Savings Bank, retiring in 1973. 

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, where she served on the Board of Trustees and was a member of the Methodist Women, The Eastern Circle and Wimodausis.  She was also active as a volunteer for the ELF Fund and belonged to the Ball and Chain Club and the 50+ Club. 

Ev’s pride and joy was her family.  She supported numerous family business adventures, hunting, fishing and sports from baseball to wrestling.  Her infectious smile revealed the love she had for her family and friends and always had a 'twinkle in her eye.' 

She is survived by two sons, Daniel (Susan) Thompson, of Wellsboro and David (Linda) Thompson, of Bradford; a daughter in law, Dianne Thompson of Bradford; six grandchildren, Tod Trowbridge, Eric Thompson, Brandon Rodgers, Terra Ferchak, Nicholle Aiellio and Kyle Thompson and eleven great grandchildren and a brother, Earl Magill of Bandor OR.   

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael E. Thompson on January 12, 1982.  

Friends are invited to call from 10-11 AM, Saturday, June 17, 2017 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., East Main Street, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM with Rev. Seth McClymonds, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
