Emma Jane Burns

Emma Jane Burns, 87, of 133 Rockland Ave. passed away, Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Bradford Ecumenical Home.

Born July 9, 1930 in Patchinville, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Daisy (Solley) Sunderlin. She was one of 14 children.

On May 13, 1972, she married William G. Burns, who died November 20, 2006.

Jane was a housewife, mother, and grandmother. She worked at Airco Speers, Bradford Hospital, Flick State Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide, Zippo, McCroy’s, and enjoyed selling antiques and having yard sales.

She was a member Grace Lutheran Church. Jane was an avid community volunteer, at the Chamber of Commerce, Senior Center, Cancer Society, Senior Expo, Martin Causer Senior Expo at Pitt. She started the Alzheimer's Support Group with Tom Friar. She supported our troops of Desert Storm with Yellow Ribbon Trees, and designed a picture display of our local Veterans of the Senior Center.

Surviving are three daughters, Sharon (Joe) Nuzzo, of Bradford, Debra (Marvin) Rethmel of Cohocton NY, Cindy (Don) Swander of Bradford, one son, Cecil "Butch" (Christine) Rorabaugh, of Edinboro, and three step daughters, Sandy (Ralph) Glass, of Port Allegany, Deborah (Rene) Hymel, of Lansford, ND, and Bonnie (Scott) Aldrich, of Waterford, two sisters, Alice Jean Westover, of Westover, and Geraldine (Glenn) Lee, of Mahaffey, one brother, Arthur Sunderlin, of Fairport NY, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, Howard "Buzz", Carl "Dick", Ray "Pete", Walter "Bun", and James "Bub", and two sisters, Hattie Beatty and Hazel Freedline, and three other infants.

Family will be receiving friends on Wednessday August 23, 2017 from 3-5pm & 7-9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Home Inc., 372 East Main where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00am with the Rev. Patrick Cox pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Grace Lutheran Church.
