Richard D. Baxter

Richard D. Baxter, 67, of Bradford, passed away, Friday, August 25, 2017 at his residence.

Born April 22, 1950, in Bradford he was a son of the late Jack and Margaret (Ward) Baxter.

On January 10, 1970, at the First Wesleyan Church in Bradford, he married Debra J (Shrubb) Baxter who died August 23, 2016. 

Mr. Baxter attended Bradford Schools. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968 he served in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged 1972

He had been employed at Corning Glass Works, and Vishay. Later he worked as a carpenter for Luciano Builders. He was a member of the Tuna Valley Trekkers, hiking club, and an avid musician, and guitar player. His most precious time was spent with his grandchildren and family.

Richard is survived by three children, two daughters, Iva (Timothy) Housler, of Duke Center, and Candy (John Rankin) Smith, of Bradford, a son, Benjamin (Michelle) Baxter, of Bradford, seven grandchildren, Kaitlynne Smith, Cody Baxter, Garrett Smith, Janelle Housler, Makenzie Smith, Jacob Baxter and Tristin Baxter, a sister, Darlene  Baxter, of Lafayette, and one brother, John (Dee) Baxter, of Bradford.

Family will be receiving friends on Monday, August 28, 2017, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave. At 7:15pm members of the American Legion Post 108 will conduct military honors in the funeral home.
