Nancy F. Shaw

Nancy F. Shaw, 81, of 55 Cornen Ave., formerly of 522 East Main St., passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Bradford Ecumenical Home.

Born November 12, 1936 in St. Mary's, she was a daughter of the late James L. "Delio" and Ruth E. (Ryden) Fritz.

She was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary's Catholic High School and later attended IUP, Clarion University and University of Pittsburgh @ Bradford.

On May 27, 1967, at Queen of the World Church in St. Mary's, she married Richard P. Shaw who died April 19, 2009.

Nancy began her working career as a teacher in St. Mary's. She moved to Bradford in 1963 and worked for the Department of Public Assistance, taught for a time in Limestone. While raising her children she baby sat for area families. After her children were raise she was a social worker at Futures, Dickinson, and retired from Evergreen Elm.

She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she served as a Lector, was a member of the Rosary Alter Society, and the 50 Plus Group. She also served as Judge of Elections for the 6th Ward 2nd Precinct.for over 30 years.

Nancy's greatest joy and privilege was being a mother and grandmother.

Surviving are two sons Warren M. (Dianna) Shaw, of Bradford, and Patrick F. (Janet) Shaw, of Dallas, GA, two grandchildren Chloe Shaw and Maxwell Shaw, one brother, Charles  Fritz, of St. Mary's, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother James "Wilbur" Fritz, and one sister Ruth Fritz.

Family will be receiving friends on Wednesday January 31, 2018, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 372 East Main St., where a prayer service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
