Frederick John Sexton Jr., 55, of 65 Kennedy Street, Bradford, passed away, Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born July 8, 1963, in Bradford, he was a son of Patricia (Koch) Sexton who survives and the late Fred Sexton Sr.
Fred was a 1981, graduate of Bradford High School. On January 25, 1983 he enlisted in the United States Army, he was assigned to the 101st Air Borne Division. He was stationed in Germany and while there he toured Europe performing with the Berlin Brigade Drill Team. He was discharged from active duty after January 11, 1990. He was awarded the Air Assault badge, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Badge M-16 Rifle, Expert Badge Hand Grenade, Army Achievement Medal, Army Occupational Medal and the Mulitnational Forces Observer Medal.
After the service he worked in construction in Florida and Bradford, specializing in masonry work.
Fred enjoyed watching sports, especially Buffalo Bills football and basketball. He enjoyed fishing, camping and in general he liked being outdoors. Other pastimes included cooking, doing crossword puzzles and exercising.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by five sisters, Teresa Mickoseff of East Petersburg, Patricia (John) Brilhart of Higbee, MO, Marie Sexton of St. Petersburg, FL, Joan (John) Organiscak of Eighty Four, and Dorothy (Edward) VanVliet of State College; two brothers, Ward (Joan Adkins) Sexton of Clearwater, FL, and Charles Sexton, of Bradford, two nieces Jennifer (Thomas) Atkins, Antonia (Evan Stone) VanVliet, two nephews: John (Suzy) Brilhart, Zachary (Sally) Brilhart, one great niece Evelyn Atkins, one great nephew Hugo Atkins and 18 aunts, and uncles, and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister Janice Sexton.
Friends are invited to call on Monday, September 10, 2018, from 10:30am to 11:30am at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Avenue, where a prayer service will be held at 11:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon in St. Bernard Church, with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor, as celebrant. Military Honors by members of the American legion Post Honor Guard and committal services will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
