Esther Sylvester Shonts

Esther B. Sylvester Shonts, 96, of 56 Shonts Road, Bradford, passed away, Saturday, February 23, 2019, surrounded by her family, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born January 26, 1923 in Humphrey NY, she was a daughter of the late Avery and Anna Howe. She was a 1941 graduate of Great Valley High School.

On January 25, 1949, she married Samuel Sylvester who died November 9, 1998. Then on October 6, 2004 she married Kenneth A. Shonts who survives.. 

Esther had been employed at Bell Telephone and later was a Real Estate Agent at Century 21, and Hometown Realty. 

She was a member of St. Bernard Church. 
 
Surviving in addtion to her husband Ken is one son, Steve Sylvester, of Hollywood FL, one step son, Ralph Shonts, of Arkansas, two step grandchildren, Lisa Gomes, and Valerie Bledsoe, and one niece, Cindy Lovette-Kauffman.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Sam, one step daughter Elizabeth Gomes, one niece Mary Beth Lovette-McMahon, and several brothers and sisters.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday February 27, 2019, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 33 South Avenue, where funeral services will be held at 10:00am Thursday with Rev. Matt Blake, Pastor of the Bradford Area Parish, a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, Pastor as Celebrant. Burial will fllow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorials contributions if desired, may be made to the  a charity of the donor's choice.

Steve, So sorry to see this. I remember your mom fondly, how she would sometimes stop and ask if my brother, sister and I would like a ride home as we walked from SBS. She always called me Mary Margaret! Thinking of you as you make your way down this path. May your memories bring you smiles.
