Raymond T. Marcella

Raymond T. Marcella, 93, of East Main Street, Bradford, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, April 11, 2021.

Ray was born to Ruth (Hebden) Marcella and Peter Marcella on March 1,1928 in Philipsburg.

After graduating from Philipsburg-Osceola High School, Ray attended both Penn State University and St. Bonaventure University. He served in the United States Army and played trumpet in the U.S. Army Band. 

Ray retired from a long and dedicated career at Corning Glass Works in Bradford. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, motorcycling, and boating. He loved animals and cherished his beloved pets. Ray also loved music and wrote an original song called, “Today is Gone Forever”.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife of more than 20 years, Linda (Knapp) Marcella, his former wife, Elizabeth (Kidwell) Marcella of Maui, and their four children, Ruth (Barry) Zuckerman of Gurley, AL, Elizabeth (Robert) Russell of San Diego, CA, James (Shelley) Marcella of Rew, and Patricia Frederick of San Diego, CA, five grandchildren, Nikki Russell, Bobbi Russell, Jennifer Zuckerman, Michael Marcella, and Shayna Simcoe, and five great-grandchildren, Sean Hensley, Avery and Evelyn Marcella, and Haleigh Switzer and Harper Simcoe, and one stepson, David Michael Knapp, of Bradford.

At Ray’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions if desired, may be made to the SPCA or charity of your choice.
