Phillip "Lynn" Soper, 79, a longtime resident of Limestone, NY, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, May 23, 2021 after a long illness.
Born on August 17, 1941, in Corning, NY, he was the son of Harold and Helen (Reddish) Soper. He was a 1960 graduate of Bradford High School.
On January 24, 1987, Lynn married Patricia A. (Becker) Wilber at St. John's Lutheran Church in Allegany, NY.
Lynn was a U.S. Army veteran serving his tour of duty in South Korea from 1960 to 1962.
He was employed at UPS for over 30 years of service. He received the Circle of Honor for accident free driving.
Lynn was a member of Grace Lutheran in Bradford and a member of the Church of the Cross in Port Charlotte, Fl. He was a lifetime member of Limestone Volunteer Fire Department and American Legion Post 1560 in Limestone.
Lynn loved to travel. After retiring in 2000, he and Patricia took a trip around the world. He loved driving his motor home, taking trips all over the US. Lynn was proud to say he was fortunate enough to be able to visit every state. His favorite saying was "God created a beautiful world." Lynn lived in FL for 6 months for 20 years, leaving behind very special friends at Lettuce Lake, FL.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years Patricia, two sons Michael (Debbie) Soper, of Limestone, Eric Wilber, of Taiwan, two daughters Jodi (the late Paul) Regina, of Cary, NC, Michelle (Jason) Pentecost, of Fairview NC, two grandchildren Jessica (Richard) Hofer, of Fredericksburg, VA, Courtney (Christopher) Barone, of Glen Allen, VA, one great grandchild Lilly Hofer, two brothers Ronald (Angie) Soper, of Alden, NY, Robert (Jeanette) Soper, of Springhill, FL., and several nieces and nephews.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harvey Soper, and son in law Paul Regina.
Friends are invited to a time of visitation on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 4-7PM at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave., Bradford. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 10am at the Allegany Cemetery, Allegany, NY with military honors presented by the Limestone American Legion Post 1560 and the United States Army.
Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made to the Limestone Fire Department or to a charity of the donor's choice.
