Benjamin K. McKinney

Crockett, Texas – Benjamin K. McKinney, 72, went to be with our Lord and Savior June 1, 2021, after a brief illness.

Born on April 7, 1949, in Kane, he was the son of George and Betty Ward McKinney. He attended Derrick City Elementary School before moving to Rock Island, IL. In September 1967 he married his childhood sweetheart Terry Jean Kitchens from Milan, IL, who survives, in Crockett, TX. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned the Bronze Star for bravery under fire.  He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Army. He was a truck driver most of his life. Towards the end of his driving, he worked for O’Reilly as a driver and manager. Managed the Legion RV Park and was the Treasurer of the American Legion Post 134 of Crockett, TX.

He was a minister for the church in Independence, MO and cared for preschoolers during the services at Lifepointe Church in Crockett, TX.

Ben enjoyed being with family and friends, fishing, bowling, helping people in need and taking walks with his wife.

Also surviving in addition to his wife are one Son, Benjamin (Lynne) McKinney of Independence, MO, Daughter, Dawn Cummings of College Station, TX, Grandchildren Coby and Haley Cummins, Brothers, Ted (Shirley) McKinney, West Fargo, ND, Harry (Darlene) McKinney, Bradford, Sister’s-in-Laws, Robbie Still, Harrison, AR, Debbie (Mark) Hansen, Nixa, MO, along with several Nieces and Nephews.

Services will be Saturday June 5, 2021, at 3 PM in Lifepointe Church, Crockett, TX
