William H. Larson

William H Larson, 84, of Duke Center, passed away at home on Friday, July 9, 2021, with his loving family by his side.

Born May 16, 1937, in Buffalo NY, he was the son of the late Emil and Leah (Kenemuth) Larson.

Bill was a 1955 graduate of Otto High School, and a 1957 graduate of Williamsport Technology where he earned a degree in diesel mechanics. While attending college he worked helping to build the Little League World Series Baseball field.

On August 1, 1961, he enlisted in the United State Army and served in the Air Corp as a Ground Survey Radar Mechanic. He was honorably discharged on July 31, 1963, he remained in the reserves until July 31, 1967.

On May 14, 1965, in Port Allegany, he married Kay (Hartzell) Larson who survives.

Bill worked at the Ford plant and Clark Brother’s prior to working at Quaker State where he was a truck driver. He retired in 1992 after 29 years of service.

Bill’s love for the Oil Industry began at an early age working along side his grandfather. He owned and operated W. H. Larson Inc from 1977 until 2019.

He was a member of the Northern Star Lodge #555 F&AM, the Coudersport Consistory, and Zem Zem Shrine, the Smethport American Legion, Bradford Gun Club, and the Keating Township Sportsman’s Club.

Bill was a hardworking, and humorous man who loved his family, and the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, and mentoring many young sportsmen, especially his three grandsons.

Surviving in addition to his wife Kay of 56 years, are two daughters, Leah (Scott) Allen, of Olean, NY and Cheryl Larson of Salamanca, NY, four grandchildren, Sydney (Mike) Rhoads, Tyler Allen, Harrison Dodge, and Hunter Dodge, one great grandson Decker Rhoads, and an especially close nephew, Luke Hartzell.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 372 East Main Street, Bradford, at 1:00 pm funeral services will be held with Rev. Rick Price, pastor of the Bradford Church of Christ officiating. Military Honors by members of the Honor Guard of the Smethport American Legion will be accorded in McKean Memorial Park following the funeral.
