Joan M. McAndrew

Joan M. McAndrew, 87, formerly of 182 Interstate Parkway, passed away on July 13, 2021, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.

Born on June 19, 1934, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Grace (Quinn) Balon.

On August 14, 1954, in St. Bernard Church, she married the late Richard F. McAndrew who passed on October 17, 2009.

Joan was a member of the St. Bernard Church, Catholic Womens Club, Zonta Club, TOPS, and a Lioness of the Bradford Township Lions Club.

She was a graduate from Bradford High School in 1952, then attended nursing School in Connecticut. After marrying Richard in 1954, she moved to Luxemburg and lived there for two years. Returning to Bradford, she was a homemaker until the mid 1960's when she started working at Dresser Memorial Rest Home as an LPN then Nursing Home Administrator until it was destroyed in a fire, then she was Administrator at the Bradford Manor and retired from Sena Kean Manor.

Joan will be remembered for her kindness and cheery disposition. She volunteered for Red Cross, Zonta and Bradford Hospital. Joan loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending summer days reading on her patio.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary (Jack) Quinlisk, of Pittsburgh, Grace (Wes) Whitnah, of Layton, UT, Ann (Michael) Conlon, of Pittsburgh, one son, Dr. Joseph (Deborah) McAndrew, of Dubois, 11 grandchildren: Jeni McAndrew, Katie Davis and Liz McAndrew, Matt and Kevin Quinlisk, Becky (Boudrero), Rob, Sean, Bethany (Johnson) and Bryan Whitnah and Amanda Conlon; 8 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Domenic, Lia, Duke, Tate, Sara, Addy and Chloe, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Barb Carlson.

Family will be receiving friends on Friday, July 16, 2021, from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in St. Bernard Church with Fr. Jim Gutting, Senior Associate, as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
