Michael McAndrew

Michael "Mike" McAndrew, 81, of 64 Marion Avenue, Bradford, passed away on September 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Born October 11, 1939, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Hugh Bernard and Nellie (Fox) McAndrew.

On May 6, 1967, in St. Bernard Church he married Rosa (Domenech) McAndrew who survives.

Michael served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1963 and the Air Force from 1963 to 1966. After the service he worked as a clerk for the US Postal Service, retiring as a Supervisor. He also worked at the DeSoto Motel as the desk clerk from 1994 to 2009.

Mike was a member of the American Postal Workers Union, NARFE, NALC, the American Legion, the VFW, and St. Bernard Choir.

Surviving in addition to his wife Rosa of 54 years, is one daughter, Linda (Craig) Denny, of Cranberry Township, one son, Michael (Amy) McAndrew, of Bellefonte, one sister, Shirley (Dan) All, of Orlando, FL, one brother, Edward Halsen, of Lockport, NY, one sister-in-law, Linda McAndrew, of Fayetteville NC, four grandchildren, Ryan McAndrew, David McAndrew, Cierra Denny, and Cassie Denny, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, foster parents, Everett and Nellie Halsen, and three brothers, Pat McAndrew, Richard McAndrew, and Tim McAndrew.

Family will receive friends on Thursday September 23, 2021, from 2-4pm & 6-8pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes inc. 33 South Avenue, Bradford, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30am Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bernard Church with Fr. Jim Gutting, Senior Associate, officiating. Committal services, and Military Honors, will follow by members of the Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 108 of Bradford in St. Bernard Cemetery.

I also knew Mike from the "Upbeat" Program at Bradford Hospital, where I also went. Many times Mike and I rode exercise bikes next to each other and also had conversations. My Grandfather Vince McAndrew and Mike used to come into Sal’s Supermarket Restaurant when I was working and made sure I had a coffee and donut waiting for me on my break.
