Donald Payne

Donald I. Payne, 92, of Bradford, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the Bradford Manor, where he has been a resident for the past five years.

Born April 13, 1929, in Springville NY, he was a son of the late George A. and Florence K. (Ishman) Payne.

He attended Bradford Area High School until he enlisted in the United States Army on April 18, 1946 and was honorably discharged on October 2, 1947. He proudly served as a Port Superintendent in WWII / Korea.

On May 14, 1948, in the Episcopal Church of Ascension, he married Ilene J. (Stidd) Payne, who preceded him in death on November 4, 2016.

Don worked for Dresser Manufacturing as a certified inspector for 44 years. He attended the Bolivar Drive Baptist Church, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 555 F&AM, Orak Grotto, and the Duke Center Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are one daughter, Ann (Alex) Nuzzo, of Bradford, one son, Jerry (Ann) Payne, of Bradford, six grandchildren, Jason (Jen) Freer of Chesapeake, VA, Lindsey (Adam) Steinberg of Coral Springs, FL, Cody(Jonnie) Nuzzo of Parker, CO, Tyler Nuzzo of Kissimmee, FL, Kyle Payne and Lexandria Pascarella both of Bradford, five great -grandchildren, Hailey Payne, Mason Payne, Benjamin Steinberg, Julian Steinberg, Bowman Stewart, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Donna (Tim) Freer and Deborah Payne, one son, Thomas Ricky Payne, sisters, Nancy Paul and Joan Payne and one brother, George Richard "Dick" Payne.

There will be no services held. Burial will be in Bridgeview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to Kids and Cancer of Bradford (P.O. Box 1299, Bradford, PA) or a charity of the donor's choice.
