I met Billy when I was about 12 years old and in the hospital with a broken leg from skiing. Billy came in injured in a sledding accident. We had a great time and became fast friends in the hospital. Billy and his family soon moved to Derrick City quite near my home. It was always a fun and easy time to be friends with Billy and all of the Macfarlane family. We all share many wonderful memories growing up. I will always remember that Billy''s heart was always in the right place, always. He was a good friend and I will miss him. My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to all of the Macfarlane''s. Rest in Peace my dear old friend....I''ll see you on the big one...

I last saw Billy at our 40th class reunion in 2012. Billy and I were in the BCCHS Class of 1972 and while Billy did not attend the formal reunion ceremonies that Saturday evening, we ran into each other at the City Line afterwards. We sat for a long time sharing memories, laughs, good wishes and, of course, a few beers. Billy struck me at the time as the same sweet, good hearted, gentle person that I have remembered for all these years. As Amy so aptly described him above, he was a wild spirit with a gentle soul. Rest In Peace my friend. Until we meet again.
— Terry Buck

So sorry for your loss. Billy was such a nice man. Stopped one day a couple of years ago at a little shop in Duke Center and to my surprise it was Billy''s shop. He greeted me with his big smile and showed me around the store and his gardens. Before I left,he gave me a plant and some seeds. Still have the plant, but I didn''t have any luck with the seeds. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Love, Karen Heitzinger
