Robert R. Ruffner

Robert R. Ruffner, Sr., 80, of Emerald Isle, Smethport, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022, at UPMC Cole, with his loving family by his side.

Born July 16, 1941, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Merle and Dorothy W. (Johnson) Ruffner. He attended Bradford schools.

On October 8, 1959 he enlisted in the United States Marines. He was honorable discharged on October 7, 1963.

On February 13, 1960, in St. Bernard Church, he married Josephine E. (Rich) Ruffner who preceded him in death on April 5, 2012. 

He worked for Main Corp, Northeastern Container, Haliburton, Miles Bradford, R.C. Can and retired from Miles Bradford. 

Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 138 of Smethport and he enjoyed spending winters in Florida.

Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy "Dar" A. (John) Kight, and Stephanie L. Ruffner, all of Smethport, one son, Robert R. (Linda) Ruffner Jr., of Crosby, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, two brothers, John Ruffner, of Aiken, and Merle "Bud" Ruffner, of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter Christina Marie Ruffner-Mackey, two sisters, Beverly Good, and Bonnie Mascioni, and one brother Richard Ruffner.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5 pm to 7 pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 33 South Avenue. Friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:00am in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, Pastor as celebrant. Followed by Military Honor's by members of the United States Marine Corp and the Honor Guard from the American Legion Post 138 of Smethport, in St. Bernard Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Disabled American Veteran's or DAV.
