Herbert A. McMurtrie

Herbert A. McMurtrie, 87, of Langmaid Lane, Bradford, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Bradford Ecumenical Home.

Born November 5, 1934, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Herbert A. and Margaret C. (Neil) McMurtrie. Known as Mick or Herbie, he attended Bradford Schools.

On December 4, 1954, in Derrick City, he married Anna Mae (Wilber) McMurtrie, who survives.

Mick began working for the Bradford Era as a paperboy. Following his fathers footsteps he worked his way up to be a pressman, retiring after 45 years.

He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mick enjoyed the outdoors. In the summer months, he would take his family boating and tent camping. He was a great fisherman and hunter with good stories. In later years, he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes as a member of the Sharks Flying Club in the Eldred field. Mick enjoyed traveling with his wife, going for rides, eating lunch at many local restaurants, stopping for ice cream and meeting new friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Anna Mae, of 67 years, are five daughters, Margaret (the late Allen) Fuller, of Bradford, Kathryn (Richard) Pascarella, of Bradford, Michelle (Bruce) Burns, of Bradford, Karen (Phil) Campbell, of Limestone, Mary (Jack) Mongillo, of Bradford, one son, Art (Sue) McMurtrie, of Bradford, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and one nephew, Kevin (Marge) McMurtrie, of Bradford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Frances McMurtrie, and one brother, Jack McMurtrie.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday March 9, 2022, from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am with Rev. Jay Tennies, Pastor of the Hill Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Bradford Ecumenical Home or the Bradford Senior Center, or the charity of the donor's choice.
