Carey D. Kalupson

Carey D. Kalupson, 83 years young, passed away on March 9, 2022, in Monroeville, PA. He was the son of the late George and Anna (Hrico) Kalupson. He was preceded in death by his much beloved wife, Rose M. (Burns) Kalupson in 1998. He is survived by children, Carey D. Kalupson, Jr, (Wife Kara M., children James Franklin and Katherine Grace), Pamela L. Muffie, (Children Marissa Rose and Dara Ann), Steven H. Kalupson, and Kevin J. Kalupson (wife Corinne R., children Rosalie Marie, Anya Linda, and Sofia Florence).

“Kal'' as he was known by his friends and family, loved staying at his cottage near Willow Bay. His first job after graduating from Pitt University with a BS in Petroleum Engineering was with Halliburton, Inc. and brought him to the Bradford region in the late 1950s. He was invited to dinner by a coworker at which he met Rose, the woman who would become the love of his life.

As an avid fisherman, Kal had owned several boats in his lifetime. He spent countless hours on the water fishing and just boating around with his children and friends. He was of a friendly and social personality and he enjoyed conversations with nearly everyone he met. Born in the latter stages of the depression his frugality was legendary, providing his children and grandchildren with many stories. “Never buy the first round of drinks” were words by which he lived. Kal was a dedicated Pittsburgh sports fan, being an original Steeler season ticket holder since the early 1970s. He and Rose attended the Steelers first Super Bowl victory in New Orleans in 1975 and he purchased fundraising bricks in his and Rose’s (then deceased) names for the then new Heinz Field. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends in Bradford and the Willow Creek area of West Washington Street.

Visitation will be held at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Home Inc., 372 East Main Street, in Bradford on Saturday March 19, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Brief services to be held at 1 p.m. with Cam Mealy, Kal's nephew, at the funeral home followed by interment at Willow Dale Cemetery. Following interment, attendees are welcome to join the family for food and fellowship at Togi’s Family Restaurant in Bradford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carey Kalupson’s name to either the glioblastomafoundation.org or the ASPCA.

Arrangements entrusted to the Gene H. Corl Funeral Chapel Inc. in Monroeville, and the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

All Condolences -

To all my dear cousins, you must know how much we loved Rose and Kal. All of my aunts and uncles are gone now on both sides my family. Please do your best to enjoy yours while you can. Wonderful memories can be had with each one. And I know you have many between your mom and dad. We do too. Love you all...

My heart breaks with yours, my dear cousins and second cousins. Uncle Kal was loved and cherished dearly. I will miss his laugh, stories, and "Kalisms". Please know I love you all dearly and offer prayers and deep sympathy. I cherish all the memories and know you do too. I love you all, Amy
