William Edward Erwin, 89, formerly of 2179 West Washington St. Bradford, passed away October 5, 2022, at Chapel Ridge.
Born June 11, 1933, in Bradford, he was a son of the late James H. and Nellie (Napher) Erwin
He attended Bradford Schools and enlisted in the United States Army National Guard on September 5, 1950. He was honorably discharged.
On June 19, 1954, in the Asbury United Methodist Church, he married Phyllis (Covert) Erwin who passed away January 26, 2018.
Bill worked after the service, at the Vantine Farms in Corydon, CC Mix Electrical Company, Bradford Pipe and Supply, and finally as an heavy equipment operator for Dirt Excavating. He was a lifetime member and served as Fire Chief of the Corydon Township Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Surviving is one son, James (Suzanne) Erwin, of Bradford, two grandchildren, Crystal M. (Aaron) Lundy, of Gainesville, NY, and Daniel E. (Sarah) Erwin, of Bradford, four great grandchildren, Mya Lundy, Maxwell Lundy, Jocelyn Erwin, and Wyatt Erwin, one sister, Connie Henry of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis of 64 years, and one son, Jerry Erwin, who died May 12, 2020.
At the family's request there will be no visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of family with Rev. Rob Klouw, co-pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park Cemetery.
