Robert L. Flanders

Robert L. Flanders, 87, formerly of Derrick City, passed away Monday March 6, 2023, at the Ecumenical Home.

Born September 11, 1935, in Port Allegany, he was a son of the late Leo and Marian (Goodman) Flanders. He was a 1954 graduate of Otto Eldred High School.

On September 26, 1959, in Olean, NY, he married Bonnie (Strait) Flanders who preceded him in death on August 2, 2019.

In 1954 he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served on the Aircraft Carriers, USS Ranger, and the Coral Sea. He was honorably discharged in 1958.

He drove for several local companies, retiring in 1997 from Witco-Kendall Refining Company after 16 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, participating in local car shows, lettering stock cars, and spending winters at their home in Florida.

Surviving is one son, Craig Flanders, of Boyers, two daughters, Colleen (Rick) Motter, of Chautauqua, NY and Jodi (Jim) Krueger, of Fairview Park, OH, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one sister, Patricia Gould, of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie, of 59 years, one brother, Tom Flanders, and one sister, Joanne Lindy.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., Bradford. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Derrick City Volunteer Fire Department, or the Street Dreams Car Club, or of the donor's choice.
