Betty K. Wheaton

Betty K. Wheaton, 91, of Bradford, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.

Born December 16, 1931, in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Lewis) Kahler. She was a 1949 graduate of West Scranton High School.

On June 4, 1955, in Scranton, she married Walter H. Wheaton, who preceded her in death on April 7, 2019.

In 1986, She and her husband moved to Murrells Inlet SC. In 2017, she returned to Bradford to reside near her family.

She worked for stockbrokers as a secretary in Olean, NY and Pawleys Island, SC.

Betty enjoyed golfing, quilting, and sewing.  She was the president of the PTA, loved watching the New York Yankees, Buffalo Sabres, and Penn State.  Her fondest moments were her children’s sporting events and being with and enjoying her family especially her granddaughter.

Surviving are two sons, Richard L. and his wife Kay (Unverdorben) Wheaton of Bradford and David M. and his wife Carrie (Van Winkle) Wheaton of Garden City Beach, SC, one granddaughter Lynzy (Wheaton) and her husband Kevin Caldwell, of Chantily, VA, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Walter, of 63 years, and two sisters, Ethel Searing and Claire Hudak.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the Grace Lutheran Church. Where at 11:00 am a memorial service will be held with Rev. William D. Waterman, Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.

Memorials if desired may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
