William J. Hannahs

William J. Hannahs, 92, of Pear Street, formerly of 1177 East Main Street, Bradford, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023, at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, with his children by his side.

Born August 5, 1930, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Howard Hannahs and Beatrice (Smith) Sprankle. He was a 1950 graduate of Bradford High School.

On September 13, 1953, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in Korea during the conflict aboard the USS N.K. Perry. He was honorably discharged on July 8, 1954. 

On November 22, 1952, in Bradford, he married Elaine G (Benjamin) Hannahs, who preceded him in death on May 26, 2008. 

Bill was employed at Kendall Refining Company and retired from Witco in 1993.

He attended the Bolivar Drive Baptist Church.

Surviving is one daughter, Debby (Rod) Abrams, of Florida, three sons, Scott (Susan) Hannahs, John (Michele) Hannahs, and Kevin (Warrie Dickinson) Hannahs, all of Bradford, four grandchildren, Chad (Diane) Abrams, Jacob Hannahs, Megan (Mark) Graham, and Jason (Carys) Hannahs, five great grandchildren, Destiny (Andy) Lile, Wyatt Abrams, Payton Eddy, Armani Hannahs, and Jane Hannahs, one half-brother, Francis Smith, of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister, Virginia Knapp

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
