Linda Whiteman Shick

Linda Whiteman Shick, 62, of Olean, N.Y., formerly of Bradford, died Tuesday July 25, 2023, in Kenmore Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.

Born May 27, 1961, she was the ninth child and first daughter of Donald J. and Shirley Stroup Whiteman Sr. On April 1, 1995, at the Bolivar Drive Baptist Church, she married Dennis Shick, who died April 8, 2015.

Linda had worked for many years at the former Howard Johnson Hotel in Bradford, and then at Bradford Regional Medical Center in housekeeping services. 

Linda was an outgoing person, striking up conversations with anyone and everyone. She loved children, and babysitting, especially her nieces and nephews, and other children of her relatives. 

Surviving are three sisters, Karen (Robert) Craft, Tina Whiteman and Marcie Schellhammer, all of Bradford; seven brothers, Richard Whiteman of Portville, NY, Robert (Denise) Whiteman of Duke Center, Daniel (Connie) Whiteman of Mesa, Ariz., Jeffrey (Linda) Whiteman of Orlando, FL, Terry Whiteman of Rixford, Marvin (Linda Monroe) Whiteman of Allegany, N.Y., and John (Sarah) Whiteman of Ridgway, numerous nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, including Melissa Hollowell and her children, with whom she resided; and many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Whiteman in 2006; three brothers, James Whiteman in 2013, Steven Whiteman in 2016 and David Whiteman in 2019; and a very close cousin, Amarylis Hollowell in 2020.

Family will be receiving friends on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm in the  Church of Christ, 121 Derrick Road, Bradford, where funeral and committal services will be held at 6:00 pm with Rev. Rick Price, Pastor of Church of Christ officiating.
