William A. Looker

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William (Bill) A. Looker, 67, of 67 North Center Street, Bradford, formerly of 283 South Kendall Avenue. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and a cherished friend of many. He departed from this world on Wednesday, September 7, 2023, at Olean General Hospital surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness.

Born July 9, 1956, he was a son of the late Francis W. And Mary D. (Bagnato) Looker. He was a 1974 graduate of the Bradford Area High School.

After graduation, he embarked on a journey, with his father, running Bill's Bike Shop, a business that became a cornerstone of Bradford. Together, they shared countless stories, helping fellow cycling enthusiasts discover the joy of two-wheeled freedom.

Bill's profound love for animals was undeniable, with his cherished dog, Prince, remaining in his heart even years after his passing, alongside his five beloved cats, with Miracle holding a special place. He also briefly volunteered at the SPCA, which was a clear testament to his limitless compassion for all animals.

Among the many treasures in his life was his deep and abiding love for Annie Distrola, who held a special place in his heart and enriched his life in countless ways. He also loved and cherished his parents, sister, nieces, and great-nieces.

In his youth, Bill was an avid participant in BMX bike racing, achieving remarkable success and earning numerous trophies. His skill, determination, and competitive spirit on the track inspired those around him. He continued his love and passion for bike riding throughout his life until recent days.

Beyond his athletic pursuits, Bill was a talented artist, avid reader, and passionate about building model cars of which he had an incredible collection.

Bill was a former member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and St. Bernard Church.

Surviving is his longtime companion Annie Distrola, of Bradford, two nieces, Mary Doyle, of Bradford and Gina (Wesley) Horton, of Cranberry Twp., two great-nieces, Brooke Horton, and Jocelyn Burgess, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Susan Doyle.

Family will receive friends on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 9:00am to 10:00am in St. Bernard Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am with Rev. John Jacquel, Pastor, as Celebrant. Committal services and burial will follow in the family plot in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the SPCA or the charity of the donor's choice.
