Nancy L. Copeland

Nancy Laraine Copeland, of 70 Summer Street, Bradford, passed away Tuesday October 3, 2023, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home after a long battle of Alzheimer’s disease. 

Born November 8, 1936, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late George and Katheryn (Eger) Cross.

On June 22, 1957, in the Custer City Methodist Church, she married James P.
Copeland, who preceded her in death on August 9, 2009.

Nancy was employed as a repair technician at Zippo Manufacturing Company for 45 years from October 1, 1963, until April 1, 2008. Before working at Zippo, she waitressed at Anderson Diner, Nicks Red Hot, and The Famous Lunch.

Nancy enjoyed playing bingo, going to the Casino, and attending Country Concerts; plus having dinner, playing cards and scrabble with her family and friends. 

Surviving are two daughters, Shelley L. Whitman (Mervin Miller), and Marcia K.
Copeland, both of Bradford, two grandchildren, Megan L. Whitman of Baltimore, MD, and Michael J. Whitman, of Bradford, one sister, Mary Jane DeArmitt, of State College, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and husband James, she was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Cross, and three sisters, Audrey Bretherton, Janet Cross, and Patty Wallace.

Friends will be invited to attend a Celebration of Nancy’s Life at a later date to be determined. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to S.T.A.R. c/o Chris Taylor, Derrick Road, Derrick City, PA or No Feline Left Behind, or to the Activities fund at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
