Vonnie S. Schimp

Vonnie S. Schimp, 74, of Bradford, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Born on April 21, 1949, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth E. and Virginia (Eschrich) Sprester.

Vonnie attended M. J. Ryan School and graduated from Bradford Area High School in 1967.

On August 5, 1967, in the Lafayette Evangelical Church, she married Gerald G. "Jerry" Schimp who survives.

Vonnie loved watching all sports, NASCAR, especially Alan Kulwicki and Dale Earnhardt, Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, and the Olympics. She also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Jerry, of 56 years, is one son, Cory G. (Tammy) Schimp, of Bradford, her "adopted son", Josh (Monica)  Leonard, of Springville, NY, Josh's son, Cory Leonard, three sisters, Vicky (the late Larry) Campbell, of FL, Trudy (Pete) Gulnac, of Lewis Run, and Janet Barger, of Bingham, one brother, Stacy (the late Sharon) Sprester, of Lewis Run, several nieces and nephews, and her grand pets.

Funeral services will be private and held for the family in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., with Rev. Max Simms, pastor, Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to  St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
