Thomas J. Chohrach, Sr., 83, of 254 Constitution Ave, Bradford, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023, in Salamanca, NY.
Born on November 7, 1940, in Bradford, he was a son of the late John J. and Ola Joanne (Kloss) Chohrach. He was a 1958 graduate of Saint Bernard School, and attended St. Bonaventure University.
On August 8, 1964, at Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Lewis Run, he married Dorothy L. (Hixenbaugh) Chohrach who survives.
He was a member of St. Bernard Church.
He was previously employed at A&P Grocery Store before opening his own auto body shop in Lewis Run. He later went on to work at JC Penney Auto Center in Bradford, followed by JC Penney Department Store in Bradford before he moved to Lakewood, NY, where he managed JC Penney Department Store in Lakewood, NY. In 1983 he and his family returned to Bradford where he retired from Bridgestone Firestone as the store manager.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Dorothy of 59 years, are two daughters, Robin L. (Dan) Whiteman, of Bradford, Jill A. (Mike) Henry, of Bradford, two sons, Thomas J. Chohrach Jr., of Lewis Run, Mark T. Chohrach, of Coudersport, four grandchildren Ashley (Zach) Ball, Allison (Steve Trumball) Whiteman, Brandon Henry, and Brianna Henry, and three great grandchildren, Lucas Ball, Leah Ball, Emilia Ragosta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, James (Marjorie) Chohrach.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
