Dawn M. Lord

Dawn M. Lord, 82, of Rt 646, Cyclone, passed away, peacefully in her sleep, Sunday, December 24, 2023, at her residence. 

Born January 6, 1941, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Carl J. and Helen M. (Nordine) Abbey. She was Valedictorian of the 1958 Class of Smethport High School.

On June 10, 1961, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Smethport, she married Terry O. Lord who survives.

While in high school Dawn worked at the McKean County Fair Office, later she worked as a secretary at Bovaird & Seyfang. She quit working to be a mom and raise her family. After her children grew up, she started working at the Smethport Area School District and retired in 2006 as secretary to the Superintendent.

Dawn enjoyed reading, baking, and taking care of everyone. Her life centered around her grandchildren. She never missed an event they were participating in like sporting events, concerts, and award dinners. She loved them dearly and they were a great sense of pride for her. 

Surviving is her husband Terry, of 62 years, is one son, John (Laura) Lord, of Smethport, one daughter, Susan (Ed) Treat, of Cyclone, four grandchildren, Kevin (Brooke) Lord, Molly (Chris Barr) Lord, Katherine (Jared Schwab) Treat, and Emily (Dakota Eaton) Treat, one great grandson, Tatum Lord, one brother, Carl L. Abbey, of East Smethport, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 
 
Family will receive friends on Thursday December 28, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hilltop Baptist Church in Gifford, followed by funeral services Noon, with Rev. Max Simms, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions, if desired may be made to the Smethport Area School District Foundation, or a charity of the donor's choice.
