Michael Hamer, 76, of Bradford, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, February 22, 2024, at home.
Born January 28, 1948, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Stephen L. and Virginia D. (Heitzinger) Hamer.
Mike graduated from Bradford Area High School in 1966, and Lincoln Welding School.
On July 15, 1969, he married Barbara (Weidow) Hamer, who preceded him in death on August 5, 1981.
He worked for Penelec, Asplundh Tree Services, he was a self employed mechanic and a welder pipefitter at ARG.
Mike enjoyed rebuilding cars, muscle cars, hunting, and boating. He was an avid stock car racing fan, attending many tracks in Western Pennsylvania, and New York.
Surviving are three sons, Todd (Nicole) Hamer, of Bradford, Marc (Alison) Hamer, of Weddington NC, and Michael (Tina) Hamer, of Raleigh NC, four grandchildren Sydney Hamer, Ryan Hamer, Jack Gerrits, and JJ Gerrits, one sister, Cathy Mitchell, of Bradford, one brother, Paul Hamer, of Bradford, his former wife, Mary (Lerch) Hamer, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, David Hamer.
Family will receive friends on Friday March 1, 2024, from 4 pm to 6pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc, 33 South Avenue, where at 6 pm funeral services will be held with Fr. Jim Gutting, of St. Bernard Church, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
