James F. Shugars

James F. Shugars Jr., 80, of 4 Hill Street, Bradford, passed away April 10, 2024, at the Pavilion at BRMC.

Born April 19, 1943, in Kane, he was a son of the late James F. and Agnes (Brazknock) Shugars Sr. He attended Bradford High School.

On October 21, 1961, in St. Bernard Church, he married Marie (Goodnoe) Shugars, who survives.

Jim was employed by Jack Bigley for many years in the oil fields. After Jack retired Jim became a partner in Red Rock Plugging Company until he retired.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, he made many bird houses and jewelry boxes for family and friends. He was a member of the VFW. His greatest joy was spending time with his puppy Princess.

Surviving in addition to his wife Marie of 62 years, are two daughters, Diana (Doug) Ackley, of Russell, and Susan (Troy) Nicastro, of Bradford, one son, Stephen (Cindy) Shugars, of Fairbanks AK, five grandchildren, Dustin (Samantha) McCartney, of Danielsville, GA, and Dallas Nicastro, of Bradford,  Tiffany Thorpe, of Warner Robins, GA, Brittany (Cody) McDonald, of Spanway WA, and Jennifer (Bryent) Sales, of Russell, three great grandchildren, McKenzie McCartney, Lily McCartney, and Hunter Haus, four sisters, Kathy (Ray) McEwen, Linda (Mark) Krumpe, and Dawn Jones, all of New Castle, and Joyce (Robert) Fair, of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews.

At Jim’s request there will be no public services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the SPCA, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
