Michael F. Kemick

Michael F. Kemick, 93, of 3 Anthony Lane, Bradford, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 16,1931, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Ed C. Kemick and Florence M. (Roberts). Michael was a 1950 graduate from Bradford High School.

On January 1, 1951, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force. He served with the 3707th Training Squadron and was honorably discharged.

On May 12, 1956, in Bradford, he married Joan G. (Hane) Kemick who preceded him in death on November 17, 2018.

Mike was employed as a Financial Planner at Dresser-Rand in Olean, NY, for 41 years.

He loved to fish and took his wife fishing out on Chautauqua Lake, Chincoteague and the Kinzua Dam. He also enjoyed watching Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team.

He was also a volunteer at the American Red Cross and a driver for the Meals on Wheels Program, he was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church where he was known as “the candle man” and he helped maintain the church along with his brother Jim.

Surviving is one daughter, Lori (Mark) Platt, of Fort Mill, SC, one son, Joseph (Lyn) Kemick, of Ridgway, four grandchildren, Elizabeth Kemick, Claire Kemick, Andrew Platt, and Matthew (Julia) Platt, and one great-grandchild, Ryder Delhunty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grandson, Sam Delhunty, who died February 29, 2024, six sisters, and five brothers.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10 am to 11am in St. Bernard Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am with Rev. John Jacquel, Pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.
