Harry G. Burns

Harry G. Burns, 88, a resident of Chapel Ridge, formally West Washington Street, Bradford, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at BRMC.

Born January 2, 1937, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Gerald and Blanche (Rich) Burns.  He was a 1956 graduate of Bradford High School.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1956.  He was stationed in Panama and was honorably discharged in November of 1961.

Harry worked for Mulhop Oil company, AVX Corp in Olean, Speer Resister, Corning Glass and Bradford Electronics prior to his retirement.

Harry was a member of the Bradford Christian and Missionary Alliance Church where he held the position of head trustee for many years. He was a troop leader for the Boy Scouts of American for 23 years.  He was a member of the NRA, McKean County Rifle Club and long-time volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are two children, Jim (Betsy) Burns of Bedford, VA, Lisa (Don) Gifford of Bradford.  Papa had six grandchildren who he loved dearly, Patrick (Katherine) Burns, Katie (Ronnie) Hurd and Jeffrey (Katy) Burns, Mary (Ryan) Campbell, Hannah (Tod) Chaffee, and Benjamin (Morgan) Bean.  “Old Papa” as he was loving referred had 10 great-grandchildren: James & Charlotte Burns, Audrey Hurd, Henry Burns, Sahara, August & Lucy Campbell, Adeline, Kai and Silas Chaffee.  Harry has one brother, Raymond Burns, of Camarillo, CA.  He was Uncle Harry to several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Norma L (Puller) Burns of 50 years, and one brother James R Burns.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday of August 6, 2025, from 5 pm to 6 pm, at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church on Minard Run, then at 6:00 pm funeral services will be held with Pastor Rob Jeffrey Pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Bradford Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.
